The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ghana’s Wa Central Constituency in the Upper West Region has expressed gratitude to delegates, stakeholders, media, and security agencies for a peaceful presidential primary, pledging unity behind Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 elections.
“We congratulate His Excellency Dr Mahamadu Bawumia on his emphatic election as our Flagbearer. His vision and leadership are the catalysts we need for the crucial task ahead in 2028,” said Constituency Secretary, Mumuni Abass Sidik.
In a statement issued and copied to Tungsung News, the constituency secretary, Mumuni Abass Sidik thanked delegates for their “mature, thoughtful, and decisive participation” and commended the Electoral Commission and Ghana Police Service for ensuring a secure and transparent process.
“Now is the time for unity, the contest is over. The decision has been made. We now have one candidate, one banner, and one common goal: VICTORY IN 2028,”
Sidik emphasized.

The constituency plans to “Build Back Better” by reconciling party members, communicating Bawumia’s vision, and winning voter trust.

“Let us move forward as an impregnable force, driven by a shared purpose and loyalty to our party and our Flagbearer,” he urged.
Brief background
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on Saturday, January 31, 2026, has once again been entrusted with the fate of the Dankwah-Dombo tradition come December 7, 2028.
He secured 100,120 votes out of the total votes cast representing 56.39% to achieve this feat.
His closest contender, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong garnered 41,856 votes representing 23.57%.
The other flagbearer aspirants; Dr Bryan Acheampong had 32,985 votes – 18.58%, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum- 1,676 votes- 0.94% and Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong- 375 votes- 0.21%.
