The NPP needs a unifier at this crucial time and I believe I am the one – Adutwum

New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, says he is the only candidate capable of uniting the party ahead of the 2028 general elections, citing his conduct and engagement with supporters throughout the campaign period.

Speaking to journalists after wrapping up his nationwide campaign tour ahead of Saturday’s NPP presidential primary, Dr. Adutwum said the internal contest has revealed signs of division among supporters of some aspirants, something he believes must be urgently addressed to strengthen the party.

According to him, his campaign has been guided by respect, tolerance, and inclusiveness, which he says positions him as the right candidate to bring all factions together.

“The NPP needs a unifier at this crucial time and I believe I am the candidate who can truly unite the party if elected,” he said.

Dr. Adutwum appealed to delegates to vote for him, while outlining his vision of rolling out policies aimed at poverty reduction and economic empowerment. He further pledged to ensure livable wages for all Ghanaians, both in the formal and informal sectors, as part of his broader plan to improve living standards.

“Our nation must ensure that workers earn livable wages, just as countries that have successfully emerged from poverty have done. Ghanaians deserve to prosper, and we must champion productivity for that prosperity to become a reality.

“We must also commit ourselves to eradicating poverty in this country. Other nations have done it, and Ghana can do it too. The fact that nearly 40 percent of our people are living in poverty should be a serious concern to all of us,” Dr Adutwum stated.

Beyond party unity and wages, the former Minister of Education also pledged to transform Ghana’s tourism sector as a key driver of economic growth.

He argued that a successful tourism industry cannot thrive without a national airline, which he says will create jobs, improve connectivity, and add value to the aviation sector.

Dr. Adutwum also announced plans to establish ‘gold streets’ in major locations across the country to maximize Ghana’s gold trade and ensure that more revenue remains within the local economy.

Dr. Adutwum expressed confidence that his leadership will not only unite the NPP but also make the party more attractive to floating voters ahead of the 2026 general elections.

He urged party members and delegates to remain peaceful and focused as the primary approaches, stressing that the ultimate goal is to secure victory for the NPP in the national polls.
