The Vice Chancellor of Dr. Hilla Limann Technical University (DHLTU) Prof Elias N.K. Sowley has appealed to the government of Ghana to support the infrastructural development of the University.
According to Prof. Sowley, the University is currently faced with infrastructural challenges following the introduction of Bachelor of Technology programmes coupled with abandoned projects.
He noted that the school needed additional lecture theatre, such as a Faculty building, and an auditorium for official events.
Whiles at it, the university don also revealing that the Vice chancellor’s residence, lecture bungalows and the campus roads were abandoned at various stages of completion by contractors.
The Vice-chancellor made this known during the 5th Congregation of the DHLTU.
The University graduated 678 students made up of 427 males and 251 females with 27 males and 14 females graduating with first class division, 222 males and 133 females attaining second class division while 174 males and 103 females respectively were awarded second class lower division with Highest National Diploma (HND), 4 male and 1 female went home with passes.
Prof. Elias N.K. Sowley congratulated the graduates and urged them to embrace the spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation employing creativity and technical expertise to create their ventures to make a meaningful impact in the Society.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Governing Council of the DHLTU, Chief Sulemana Nabila called on the graduates to be good ambassadors of technical university.
He further appealed to the government to provide funding to the contractors to complete the numerous abandoned projects dotted around the campus.
In a speech that was read on behalf of the Upper West Regional Minister, the Regional Coordinating Director, Peter Maala, express awareness of the infrastructural challenges that were facing the institution.
He noted that working with the administration, they will fine innovative ways to raise funding for the projects.
On her part, the valedictorian, Amanda Addo-Boateng of the Department of Purchasing and Supply graduated with a CGPA of 4.64.
Express her gratitude to her lectures, mentors and colleagues. “As we embark on the next chapter of our journey let us embrace the challenges that lies ahead of us with courage, resilience and determination knowing that we are well equip to succeed in whatever path we choose to take”. She admonished.
