The Upper West Regional Minister, Stephen Yakubu, has hinted that the Upper West Regional Police headquarters will be commissioned after the 2024 elections.
This, he said is due to the unavailability of the Inspection General of Police (IGP) George Akufo Dampare and the police hierarchy due to their role in the Upcoming 2024 general elections.
He revealed this during the inspection of the project to ascertain the satisfaction of the work done.
The Regional Minister said, “The 22-office building is fully finished and ready for commissioning. It is described as one of the few such facilities in the country. The building sits on approximately 10 acres of land, with approximately 6 acres developed”.
The new building will significantly improve security for the regional police command, compared to their previous, less secure location in the center of town, while improving the efficiency of the Upper West Regional Police Command, the Minister said.
Hon. Stephen Yakubu urges voters in the Upper West Region to consider the development projects undertaken by the government, such as the new police headquarters and the recently commissioned Youth Resource Center when casting their votes.
Highlighting various government initiatives implemented by the NPP government, the Minister mentioned free SHS education, LEAP program, national health insurance, and the new infrastructure, as reasons to support a certain political party.
These, he said, are tangible improvements in the region, particularly those related to infrastructure and economic development done by the Nana Addo/Bawumia administration.
