The Parliamentary candidate (PC) for the Wa Central Constituency, Hajia Humu Audubon has powered a team of medical personnel to give free medical service to members of the Wa Central Constituency.
The medical service, which primarily involves constructive surgery is expected to be conducted at the regional hospital between now and November 7, 2024.
Before the exercise could commence on Tuesday November 5, a multitude of beneficiaries from across the region and beyond have already booked to take advantage of the free medical care.
Revealing the genesis of the medical outreach, the benevolent politician, Hajia Humu, who is racing for the Wa Central Constituency seat have told a brief story of a patient who could not pay for a plastic surgery to correct his crooked hand at the regional hospital.
According to the Parliamentary candidate, she begun to contact a friend she met in California, USA who is trained in reconstructive surgery to extend their routine medical outreach to his constituents in Wa.
After contacting her ‘doctor friend’ in October this year, Hajia Humu then started to look for a hospital that could host the medical team hence her negotiation with the Upper West Regional Hospital.
Stating the importance of the outreach, she has indicated that it will not only benefit her constituents but the country at large, adding that people have travelled from far and near to access the service.
She further outlined her readiness to help in the development of the constituency, saying that she was doing the best that she could to develop the area since development was a collective responsibility.
She challenged her main contender Rashid Pelpuo to also bring his initiative that can propel the development agenda that can engender competition between them.
She however bemoaned the politics of insults and went ahead to urge everyone to eschew negative propaganda in order to give development a chance.
The Parliamentary candidate, Hajia Humu maintained that the people of the constituency remain the end beneficiaries of the medical outreach which she gratefully spearhead.
She therefore appealed to the electorate to vote for her and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to change the face of the Wa Central Constituency.
Receiving the medical team at the regional hospital, the Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr. Robert Amesiya regretted the lack of reconstructive surgeons at the facility saying that the team’s arrival was a blessing to the hospital.
He thanked Hajia Humu for bringing such a team to the hospital, calling on other well-meaning Ghanaians to also support since the hospital needed help in diverse ways.
Dr. Robert therefore assured the team that the hospital will cooperate with them to make the exercise successful since the hospital meant well in their mission of providing excellent secondary level health care to the populace.
