Vice President Dr Mahamadu Bawumia paid a special visit to the Black Stars on Monday morning, offering encouragement ahead of their must-win 2026 World Cup qualifier against the Central African Republic (CAR) in Kumasi.
The Black Stars will face CAR on Monday evening, with a victory potentially placing them at the top of their group after this month’s qualifiers.
Ghana had a mixed start to their campaign, winning against Madagascar but losing to Comoros. However, they revived their chances with a 2-1 comeback win against Mali in Bamako last Thursday.
This victory has lifted the team’s spirits, and the Black Stars are now favourites to take control of the group with a win over the Central African Republic.
As part of his campaign tour of the Ashanti Region, Vice President Bawumia visited the team at their hotel in Kumasi and reportedly donated GHS500,000 to motivate them for the home game.
The Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif, and GFA President Kurt Okraku accompanied the Vice President during his visit to the team’s hotel.
The match against the Central African Republic is scheduled to kick off at 7 pm local time.
