Alhaji Mahama Iddrisu urges voters in the Upper West Region to support John Mahama as well as their parliamentary candidates in this year’s elections

A former Defense Minister and Member of Council of State in the erstwhile NDC government has called on members of the NDC in the upper west region to vote for John Mahama as well as their Parliamentary candidates in the upcoming general elections.
The former defense minister, who is also chairman of council of elders of NDC and also dabbles as the elder of the upper west community living in Accra made the plea in Wa when he presented a donation of 3000 packs of assorted food items to the NDC in the upper west region on Wednesday November 27, 2024.
The donation comprised 1000 bags of 25 kg rice, 1000 cartons of mackerel and 1000 cartons of cooking oil totaling 3000 packs of assorted food items.
This donation according to Alhaji Mahama was to make sure that the party’s polling agents are fed well so that they can monitor the polls till the elections which he described as crucial were over.
He was hopeful that the food items would be deployed judiciously so that the party did not miss out on anything.
The chairman of council of elders reckoned that feeding of polling agents was a challege in the past elections hence the support from his community in Accra to augment the party’s preparations towards the elections.
He noted that the Upper West Region was number one, as far as the NDC was concerned and the party was targeting all eleven Parliamentary seats in the region. “Inshallah, we shall win”. He assured.
Advising party supporters in the region, the former minister called for total support for the presidential candidate and all Parliamentary candidates. “No separation”. He added.
Explaining to a question of ‘skirt and blouse’ Alhaji emphasized that skirt and blouses was not a party affair rather it was a tool that is used by disgruntled party members just to vent their anger.
“For us, if you vote for your presidential candidate, also vote for your Parliamentary candidates that is what we know. Imagine today the NDC is described as minority in parliament meanwhile, there was only one member that separated both sides. Even how that member joined the NPP still remains a mystery otherwise, we had equal numbers in parliament”. He advised.
Therefore, your decision to vote for the presidential candidate and leave out your Parliamentary candidates would be incomplete. So what you must do is to vote for both candidates”. He concluded.
Receiving the donations on behalf of the upper west NDC, the Regional Chairman, Abdul Nasir Saani recognized the vital role that the donations were going to play.
Chairman Bunas, popularly known conceded that there were difficulties faced in terms of feeding the over 3000 polling agents in the region.
He however indicates that the food donation would help in ways that will empower the agents to police the ballot boxes because no one can use food to convince them.
The chairman assured that the items will be appropriated judiciously among the constituencies to make sure that each polling station received their fare share so that the party will achieve its agenda 11/11.
