Asiedu Nketia takes ‘Thank You Tour’ to Upper West Region

The Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia will tour 10 constituencies in the Upper West Region from April 20 to 22.

The constituencies are Sissala East, Sissala West, Lambusie, Nandom, Lawra, Jirapa, and Nadowli. The rest are, Wa East, Wa West and Wa Central.

The objective of the tour is to interact with the grassroots of the party, thank them for the victory in the 2024 elections and to ascertain their challenges in order to help address them.

He will also use the opportunity to rally their support for government and rekindle their interest in helping the party retain power after the 2028 elections.

So far, the National Chairman of the NDC has been to the Western, Central and Ashanti regions. In the Ashanti Region, Mr Asiedu Nketia urged the party’s supporters to continue working hard to build on the gains made during the 2024 elections.

According to him, the significant improvement in votes in both the presidential and parliamentary elections, shows that voters in the region are gradually warming up to the NDC.

Mr Nketia made the call when he addressed chiefs, residents and party faithful at Sekyere on March 25.

“Before the 2024 elections, we knew Ashanti Region was a no-go area for the NDC, but we persevered and campaigned across the region. At the end of the elections, we saw how supportive you were. You gave us 35% of the votes in Ashanti Region for presidential elections and increased our parliamentary seats to 8. This has never happened,” he stated.

“Without Ashanti Region, there is no NDC, so we also consider this region as our stronghold,” Mr Nketia stressed.

Mr Nketia noted that the party is not taking this show of support for granted.

“So, we are monitoring all the promises we made to you. We want to ensure that we deliver on all the promises so that we can come back in 2028 to ask for your votes again,” he said.

The National Chairman of the NDC used the opportunity to urge members of the party to retain the constituency and regional executives because they are carrying out their duties effectively.

“As things are now, government has done so well that even NPP members will wear NDC t-shirts if offered to them. The incumbent executives are performing well, so let’s keep them in office so that in 2028, they can help us retain power,” he advised.

“Those of you who are yet to benefit from any appointment, do not worry, if we are able to retain power, you will all have your turn,” he promised.
